Even though India is a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which guarantees the right to creative and artistic expression, it has done little to support its disabled citizens as creative contributors to society.
We Make Film, the documentary, delves into the stories of film and video-makers with disabilities. Set in urban contemporary India, the film highlights social attitudes to disability and filmmaking. It also shows the inaccessibility of film and video technology, barriers to film consumption and education, and how the filmmakers find ways to articulate their creative vision.
